Kathryn ZaccarelloKathryn began her journey when she went to college in 2006. She started working at different yoga studios as a work trader. As her asana practice improved, her curiosity for spirituality intertwined with yoga was awakened. After self-studies she began researching teacher trainings. Once she graduated from Lake Forest College, she moved downtown and started teacher training at Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago. In this transformative year she discovered her dharma in serving others through teaching yoga.
In yoga we connect to our inner light, essence, or soul, and learn that the answers to our questions cannot be found outside. Spirituality enters into our practice through "Aparigraha" (non-possessiveness, one of the yamas) as we explore, our inner light radiates. Asana helps create space so that we can see our truest self. The benefits of yoga are immeasurable.
As a certified teacher of Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, Kathryn focuses on the subtle aspects of practice by incorporating meditation, alignment, bandhas, breath, dristi, and mindfulness. She uses intention as a direction with an emphasis on cultivating the students' awareness of what they personally need from their practice. She believes yoga is all around us, and with this awareness the student opens to experiencing the world in a new expression. She continues to expand her knowledge in yoga and philosophy through regular trainings, seminars, workshops and study with master teachers Aadil Palkhivala, founder of Purna yoga, and Daren Friesen, founder of Moksha Yoga.
